Josh started at Lightyear in 1997 and created
a sales division called “Network Marketing Services.”
This new sales division produced more than $100
million in revenue in fewer than two years. Network
Marketing Services provided a residential long distance
product and partnered with some of the largest network
marketing companies in the U.S. and provided a co-branded
service option they could sell to their sales associates.
In 1999, Josh was asked to create another sales
division under the Lightyear umbrella called “Direct.”
Direct hired salespeople who focused on selling
small-to-mid-sized companies telecommunication
solutions and had more than 28 sales offices across
the country. Josh was in charge of hiring and managing
more than 500 employees creating $100 million in
revenue. Direct had customers such as Arby’s Restaurants,
Capital One, Enterprise Rent-a-Car, Monster.com,
Red Robin Restaurants, and Motorola to name just a few.
In 2001, Lightyear planned to merge with another
telecommunications company whose business model
was much different than Lightyear’s, allowing them
to complement each other greatly. That company was
a 10-10 dial around company that had just bought
a billion dollar network marketing telecommunications
company. They asked Josh to move to Dallas, TX
take the lead position in that company and run it
on a daily basis. Josh obliged and headed West.
In 2002, Lightyear and the other company decided
not to merge. Josh soon started two new companies,
both with tremendous success. Although Josh was
living a phenomenal lifestyle,
something was missing. That something was his father.
Deep down, Josh knew he was always meant to work
along side his father and mentor, CEO and founder
of Lightyear, Sherman Henderson. Josh wanted to finish
what they started years before. He understood
the power of network marketing and knew that he
could create a dynamic, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity
by creating his very own company within Lightyear.
Josh happily returned to his hometown of Louisville,
KY and began mapping his vision. It was upon his
return to Louisville when he approached Ron Mattingly,
then Director of Account Management at Lightyear,
with his idea of creating Lightyear's very own direct
selling company. "We have prepared for this
moment. The launch of My Wireless Rep will revolutionize
the Wireless and Direct Selling Industries."
Ron Mattingly, Vice President of Sales and Training
Ron started at Lightyear in 1999 as a Supervisor
of Lightyear’s Customer Support Team who serviced
Lightyear’s entire customer base. In 2001, Ron became
Account Manager for several of Lightyear’s largest
network marketing service clients and helped grow
those companies to more than 100,000 customers nationwide.
In 2002, Ron was promoted to Director over the entire
Account Management division and stayed in that role
until Josh approached him with the idea of joining
him to help set up the infrastructure for Lightyear’s
very own direct selling company. Since 2003, Josh
and Ron have worked closely with the representatives
of Lightyear and particularly close with the leaders
in the field in order to create the most exciting
and fastest growing entity within Lightyear.
Both men contribute their success to surrounding
themselves with great people in Lightyear and also
to strong representative base. They understand
that consistent effort over a period of time will
produce incredible results and they are committed
to long-term success.
With the launch of My Wireless Rep, Ron believes
there will be millions who become part of our team.
He feels strongly that to be successful in this industry,
you must provide unique products and services on which people
already spend money, and then give everyone an opportunity
to get paid with the most dynamic compensation plan
in the industry when they do so. What better
product than wireless services to do that?
Sherman Henderson, Founder and CEO of the
parent company, Lightyear Network Solutions
After spending more than 20 years in telecommunications
and leading Comptel.org, the industry’s largest
association for the past six years, Sherman Henderson
has seen it all and his personal accomplishments
are second to none. In 1996, Sherman was named Entrepreneur
of the Year. In 1999, he led Lightyear to #19 in
Inc. Magazine’s fastest growing companies and as
Chairman of the Board and CEO of Lightyear, Sherman
has just completed a contract that will allow Lightyear
to offer wireless service nationwide.
"This wireless project is bigger than anyone can
imagine. I have been in the telecommunications industry
for 20 years and have watched consumers evolve from
using a stationary, land line telephone to cutting
the cord and going wireless. Wireless communications
has become the number one choice for making phone
calls and will soon become the way everyone accesses
the Internet."
"Today, 84% of all consumers already have a cell
phone. That means the big companies will be aggressively
marketing to each other’s customers to gain more
market share. We have the perfect vehicle to gather
customers in that environment. Everyone we know
has a mobile phone yet none of us currently
get paid when someone else - a family member, friend, neighbor - pays their mobile phone bill. Now we will. With over 254 million customers using wireless
today, if we just get 1% of those customers to choose
Lightyear, that’s 2.5 million customers. With an
average bill of $60 per month, we will be a $150M
per-month or $1.8B per-year company.
And that’s just with a 1% market share!"
"Every person with a pulse will be jumping at this
opportunity. In 1993, Lightyear gave hundreds of
people the same opportunity in the long distance
industry, to get paid on everyone’s long distance
bill. The average bill was $20 per month and many
became extremely wealthy. Now, the average customer
spends at least $60 per month on wireless bills
and the business is a lot bigger than it was in
1993. Surely, there will be a lot of people making
a ton of money!"
